Ferrari has unveiled the Portofino M to the world, its first new product since the company suspended production temporarily because the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is an evolution of the GT Spyder and the online launch, the first in the manufacturer's history, included members of the world's media, as well as potential customers and diehard fans of the Prancing Horse brand.

The new model is, Ferrari says, "a completely unprecedented combination of authentic GT performance, driving pleasure, agility and exceptional versatility in everyday driving contexts".

Under the bonnet, the M has a 3,855cc, twin-turbo, V8 engine, which is capable of producing about 610 horsepower. That should be sufficient to get you up to 320 kilometres per hour. In terms of acceleration, you'll reach 100kph in 3.45 seconds.

The M also has a completely redesigned gearbox that replaces the seven-speed version. This is the first eight-speed to be installed on an open-top Ferrari.

Design-wise, air vents at each front wheel arch to reduce drag are a new feature. The redesigned front bumper also accentuates the car's slightly fiercer new look. This bumper also incorporates air vents.

A grille with aluminium slats is also new.

In case you are wondering what the M stands for, it is "modificata", which in Ferrari nomenclature refers to cars that have undergone a redesign to boost their performance. You might think that is just about every Ferrari redesign that has ever happened, but you would be quibbling to make a fuss about that.

The price remains under wraps at the moment, as does its time of arrival in the Middle East.

Real estate tokenisation project

Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.

The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.

Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
