Supermodel Gigi Hadid gave fans the first glimpse of her pregnancy during an Instagram live video.
The American model, who is of Dutch-Palestinian descent, confirmed she was expecting her first child with boyfriend Zayn Malik earlier this year. However, since the news broke, she has kept her pregnancy private while self-isolating at her family’s farm in Pennsylvania.
During the live video on Wednesday, the 25-year-old told fans she wasn't posting about her pregnancy as it’s "not the most important thing going on in the world".
"That's a reason that I felt that it's not really something that I need to share apart from with my family and friends. Obviously a lot of people have lost lives due to [the] coronavirus that was in the beginning of quarantine and still happening," Gigi said.
"And then we moved obviously into the reemergence of the Black Lives Matter movement, and I thought that our presence on social media should be used for that."
However, she did show fans her stomach in the video, speaking of how she was feeling uncomfortable in the Pennsylvania heat, and was choosing to stay cool in floaty pyjamas. "There's my belly y'all," she said. "Like it's there, it's just from the front it's different."
The video comes after the model, who is thought to be around seven months pregnant with a baby girl, was accused by some fans of concealing her bump.
The model confirmed her pregnancy to talk show host Jimmy Fallon in May, telling the TV personality the couple were "extremely happy and excited".
"Obviously, we wish we could’ve announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support," she said.
Hadid and Malik, 27, have been in an on/off relationship since 2015. They broke up for a period in 2018, but it was confirmed they were back together in December 2019.
