The huge parties may have been cancelled, but that hasn’t stopped celebrities from dressing up for Halloween.
Inspired by one of the year's biggest documentary series, Tiger King, Kim Kardashian West dressed as Carole Baskin while family friend Jonathan Cheban was recruited to play the part of Joe Exotic, complete with mullet and questionable moustache.
Tiger King was also the theme for US television presenter Kelly Ripa, who donned an outfit in tribute to Joe Exotic. Her other costume paid homage to Moira Rose from the series Schitt's Creek.
Paris Hilton also found time to wear multiple looks, and shared them all with the hashtag #sliving – a mix of "slaying" and "living". Her looks included bright pink opera gloves and a black netting skirt in front of the spooky gates to #Sliving Mansion, while another saw her in front of #Sliving Hotel, complete with a crow and bat.
Dancing with the Stars aired a Halloween special, featuring singer Nelly as Freddy Krueger from the film Nightmare on Elm Street.
Writer Mindy Kaling dressed up as one of her own characters from her series Never Have I Ever. Clad in the white T-shirt and orange tank top worn by the main character Devi Vishwakumar (played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), she took to Twitter, simple asking "Do you like my costume?"
Kylie Jenner stuck to the small screen theme, as she and her squad dressed as Power Rangers, but with pouts. The Spanish singer-songwriter Rosalia, meanwhile, took inspiration from the big screen with a version of Leeloo from 1997 film The Fifth Element. Vanessa Hudgens dressed in a Spider Woman catsuit, while singer Rico Nasty made for a very convincing Joker.
For sheer effort, however, singer Saweetie deserves a round of applause, by dressing as all of Destiny's Child, and making a video.
Honourable mention should go to singer Halsey, who transformed herself into Emily, the lead character in Tim Burton's 2005 film, Corpse Bride, thanks to some very impressive make-up.

His life in brief: Born in a village near Galilee, he lived in exile for most of his life and started writing poetry after high school. He was arrested several times by Israel for what were deemed to be inciteful poems. Most of his work focused on the love and yearning for his homeland, and he was regarded the Palestinian poet of resistance. Over the course of his life, he published more than 30 poetry collections and books of prose, with his work translated into more than 20 languages. Many of his poems were set to music by Arab composers, most significantly Marcel Khalife. Darwish died on August 9, 2008 after undergoing heart surgery in the United States. He was later buried in Ramallah where a shrine was erected in his honour.
