From Address Sky View to Warner Bros World: Amr Diab shoots advert for debut fragrance at UAE hot spots

He might have been showcasing his debut fragrance, but Amr Diab has also highlighted some of the UAE's landmarks in a new advert.

The Egyptian pop star unveiled a commercial for his new eau de parfum, named 34, on Monday, with a number of Abu Dhabi and Dubai hot spots forming the backdrop of the two-minute video.

In the advert, the camera pans over Sheikh Zayed Road before capturing Diab on an outdoor terrace surveying the bright lights of Downtown Dubai.

The Ya Ana Ya La star spritzes on his namesake unisex fragrance in a hotel room before encountering a young woman, played by Lebanese presenter Enjy Kiwan, as he walks through the lobby of the Address Sky View hotel, located on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard.

The passerby is, by the power of the scent, transported into a daydream, where she whizzes through the waters of Dubai Marina with Diab, before enjoying an ice cream from the Big Belly Burger diner in Abu Dhabi's Warner Bros World theme park.

Diab also encounters another woman as he waltzes through the Address Sky View's revolving doors, who then imagines the pair racing in a canary-yellow Mercedes before relaxing in the hotel's infinity pool, with the Burj Khalifa in the background.

In the final scene, Diab strolls through Clap Dubai, the upmarket Japanese restaurant in Dubai's DIFC, where he is embraced by two women earlier captured spraying his fragrance in the restaurant bathroom.

Little else is known about the scent, such as its top notes and price.

It launched on Monday, according to Diab's Instagram account, with the singer adding it would be "available worldwide".

Diab has been a household name in the region for decades. He began his musical career in 1983 with the album Ya Tareeq. Within a decade he had established himself beyond the Arabic-speaking world, with his 1996 hit Nour El Ain becoming one of the most popular pop songs to come out of the Middle East.

His career has only picked up momentum since then. Six of his albums made it to Billboard's global top 10 chart, with 2014's Shoft El Ayam claiming the top spot. He's also raked in seven World Music Awards, setting a Guinness World Record for most World Music Awards won by a Middle Eastern artist.
