From new openings and special dishes to updated menus, here's what’s new in the UAE's food scene this week.

The Sum of Us launches uniquely flavoured burgers

Dubai cafe The Sum of Us will celebrate burger night every Tuesday from 5pm to 9pm, and serve up a range of new burgers, some with rather unique flavour pairings. The tropical huli huli grilled chicken burger comes with grilled chicken breast, pineapple and Hawaiian huli huli sauce; the fried chipotle chicken burger has Southern fried chicken with tangy chipotle sauce. There’s also a fish and chip curry burger, and an OG vegan burger with a soy mushroom patty, onion rings and pickled cabbage. Traditionalists can go for the classic beef burger or play it safe with the cafe's signature Wagyu cheeseburger.

Plant-based meal delivery plan Root’d launches in Dubai

Home-grown snack brand Freakin' Healthy marks World Vegan Month with the launch of a plant-based meal-delivery plan, called Root'd. The service has three plans - Weight Management, Balanced Lifestyle and Detox Refuel - and more than 45 meal options that customers can choose based on tastes and goals. Dishes include overnight blueberry pie oats, tofu egg scramble wrap, vegan burger, vegetable couscous tagine and pulled mushroom burgers. Prices start from Dh120 per day or Dh2,400 per month (for 20 deliveries). Dishes are portion-controlled and calorie-counted, and nutritional consultations are available for an additional Dh150. Enjoy al fresco dining at Afya Beach Lounge

With the cooler weather setting in, Afya Beach Lounge at Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, is giving Abu Dhabi residents the chance to make the most of al fresco season with two themed nights. Seafood Shack takes place every Thursday; diners can feast on fresh local fish, grilled crabs and prawns infused with spices from Morocco, Lebanon, Egypt and the UAE. Meanwhile, meat-lovers can head to Afya on Fridays for its Smoking Vibes nights, with different cuts of meat, from chicken drumsticks to ribs, lamb and skewers available. There will also be shawarma, pizza and burger stations. The themed nights take place each week from 6.30pm to 10.30pm, with views of the Grand Canal in the distance. The packages are priced at Dh140 per adult and Dh70 per child, with those under the age of 6 eating for free.

Zaatar w Zeit launches mega kaakeh

A favourite late-night option, Zaatar w Zeit has launched a mammoth version of kaakeh, a popular Lebanese street dish, made with crispy bread and sesame. The franchise's mega kaakeh is 42 centimetres long and available in six flavours; zaatar, picon, truffle skanklish, pepperoni cheese, veggie pesto and barbecue chicken. Prices start at Dh14. Zambar Coastal Kitchen launches breakfast menu

Residents of the capital looking to start their day with South Indian dishes can head to Zambar Coastal Kitchen, a houseboat-shaped restaurant in Bawabat Al Sharq Mall, which has launched a breakfast menu. On offer are dosas stuffed with potatoes, chicken and cheese, uttapams with cottage cheese, and appams served with chicken or mutton stew. The menu also features Indian breakfast classics such as idli, medu vada and puri bhaji, which go well with steaming hot cups of masala chai or filter coffee. The breakfast menu will be available daily until noon.
