Meet the chef from George and Amal’s wedding



The Aman Canal Grande Venice hotel, the same hotel where George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin wed on September 27, has a new chef – the same chef who prepared the five-course meal for the couple during their wedding celebration.

Chef Riccardo de Prå learnt to cook from his father, Michelin-starred chef Enzo de Prå. The de Prå family has run an acclaimed restaurant in the Dolomites in Italy for more than 90 years. While Riccardo de Prå took his early cookery cues from his father, he has travelled extensively to hone his skills (he even trained with Michelin-starred chefs in Japan in his twenties). De Prå is known as one of Italy’s most innovative chefs, which is likely why he was chosen for the Clooney-Alamuddin nuptials.

The chef will be delighting guests with his cuisine in the Red Dining Room and the Yellow Dining Room in the hotel. Both serve Italian and Asian cuisine. Want to stay in the hotel? You’ll have to shell out some dirhams. The lowest room rate offered at the hotel (in the off season) is €850 a night (Dh3,945). The most expensive? A pricey €4,000 (Dh18,566).
