Byblos Sur Mer, InterContinental Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi

For a Lebanese iftar with a twist, try Byblos behind InterContinental Abu Dhabi. It starts with the signature hot and cold mezze brought to your table, including the must-try lobster kibbeh; sautéed chicory with onion, garlic and olive oil; and chargrilled baby squid (our favourite). Next come three main dishes (which change daily), choices include beef ribs with salsa halabieh, ouzi with Oriental rice, and chargrilled chicken with thyme and garlic. Then there’s the extensive dessert buffet, complete with a chocolate fountain. Dh225, sunset to 8.30pm. Call 02 666 6888

Naya, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai

Naya serves an unlimited selection of North Indian dishes at your table. Against views of the Burj Al Arab, feast on dahi puri chaat (a sweet and sour Indian street-food snack), lentil shorba, lamb rogan josh, chicken dum biryani, various Indian breads and more. Finish with the dessert platter that includes gulab jamun, rasmalai, kesariya kulfi, yogurt and jaggery ice cream. Dh185. Sunset to 11.30pm. Call 04 432 3232
