Scott’s comes to the UAE
Scott’s, the much-loved seafood restaurant in Mayfair, London, has just opened a sister restaurant at Jumeirah at Etihad Towers. The restaurant is staying true to the original and serving British seafood classics – think dressed Cornish crab, fish and chips and potted shrimps. Holiday fun at Jumeirah
From now until December 27 you can explore the festive market at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel every day from 4pm (12pm at weekends) until 11pm. The outdoor market features an array of traditionally decorated chalets selling festive fare – Christmas decorations, gingerbread cookies and stocking fillers included – and Santa Claus is said to make a daily appearance.
Stollen spree in Dubai
Head to the Central Galleria at Mall of the Emirates tomorrow for the 7th Annual Stollen Charity Cake Sale. From 10am, a 570m-long stollen – prepared by pastry chefs from the Kempinski Hotel – will be sold, with proceeds going to the Dubai Centre for Special Needs. A slice of the German fruitcake costs Dh5, while a loaf is Dh100. There will also be various children’s activities throughout the day.
New menu at Pearls & Caviar
Pearls & Caviar, the upmarket seafood restaurant at the Shangri-La hotel in Abu Dhabi, is launching its new à la carte menu tonight. Chef Cyril Calmet's latest creations feature cured Adour salmon, Norwegian halibut and sea bass and are inspired by his training in France and the US. Chill time at Le Bar
The Al Manzil hotel in Downtown Dubai has just opened Le Bar, a relaxed poolside spot serving light meals and snacks such as burgers, Thai beef salad and shish tawook in a chilled-out atmosphere, making it the ideal spot for refuelling after some retail therapy at The Dubai Mall.

The flights
Emirates flies from Dubai to Phnom Penh via Yangon from Dh2,700 return including taxes. Cambodia Bayon Airlines and Cambodia Angkor Air offer return flights from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap from Dh250 return including taxes. The flight takes about 45 minutes.
The hotels

The tours

UK's plans to cut net migration
Under the UK government’s proposals, migrants will have to spend 10 years in the UK before being able to apply for citizenship.
Skilled worker visas will require a university degree, and there will be tighter restrictions on recruitment for jobs with skills shortages.
But what are described as "high-contributing" individuals such as doctors and nurses could be fast-tracked through the system.
Language requirements will be increased for all immigration routes to ensure a higher level of English.
Rules will also be laid out for adult dependants, meaning they will have to demonstrate a basic understanding of the language.
The plans also call for stricter tests for colleges and universities offering places to foreign students and a reduction in the time graduates can remain in the UK after their studies from two years to 18 months.
