It didn’t end well for the Titanic, but the Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, plans on celebrating the luxury of the fated ship this week by hosting a 10-course dinner to tie in with the 105th anniversary of its demise.
On Friday (April 14) and Saturday (April 15) from 6.30pm, Bord Eau will restore the legacy of fine dining by presenting the menu that was originally served to the Titanic’s first-class passengers.
This is the second year the five-star property has hosted the dining experience which will see Bord Eau’s opulent dining room transformed into the Titanic’s first-class cabin, with Executive Chef Mansour Memaria, who has helmed Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe, creating a symphony of flavours that will transport diners back to an past era of haute cuisine.
Guests, who are encouraged to dress elegantly, will be entertained by jazz favourites spanning the decades.
“This year, Bord Eau is once again set to steer patrons towards an exclusive experience,” notes hotel general manager, Thomas Guss.
“The last dinner on the Titanic epitomises the finest gastronomic journey worth telling, where guests’ experiences are not limited by their imagination. The savoir faire, sumptuous food and lively entertainment — coupled with a touch of history — are elegantly intertwined to give an unparalleled dining experience,”
While first-class passengers back in the day paid an equivalent of US$124,000 (Dh455,000) in today’s currency for their passage, those attending the 10-course Abu Dhabi lavish affair this weekend will pay Dh496 per person (excluding taxes).
