Social media challenges are uniting many online and keeping millions busy as they self-isolate during the coronavirus pandemic.

So far we have had the celebrity-favoured handstand challenge, the controversial mugshot challenge on TikTok and Instagram's Until Tomorrow' challenge; not to mention the countless dances people have been replicating over on TikTok.

But this week you may have noticed that a throng of fashionistas (if you follow them) have been belting up a pillow to turn it into a dress and tagging it #quarantinepillowchallenge. At the time of writing, the hashtag had more than 55,000 posts, while #pillowchallenge had more than 122,000 posts, so it's certainly taking off.

It really is that simple, the style set have taken something most people have around the home, the humble pillow and belted it to make it look like a strapless, structured mini-dress. Very fashun.

Dubai-based influencer Karen Wazen Bakhazi took part in the challenge with her twin daughters, Karlie and Kay:

Algerian actress Yasmine Amari went for black and gold with Gucci:

Some people have gone for block colour and kept it homely with very domestic accessories:

Others are opting for a pattern, pairing it with a duvet train for extra impact:

But the majority of the style set are keeping it classic in white with a contrasting black belt:

Which is exactly what UK celebrity hair stylist Lou Teasdale did, with daughter Lux, but with Off-White belts:

It is certainly a family affair, as many have dressed their little ones up in the comfy looks:

Others, like Fllor Silveira got their pets involved:

Mongolian news presenter Odzaya Deremchimed went for an almost bridal look:

Lebanese Instagrammer Nadine Abdel Aziz incorporated her comfortable look into a quarantine spring / summer 2020 catwalk, complete with a chic pyjama set and a robe:

And posed with her sister Alice, in matching pillows, telling followers they were "ready for the bed club":

Meanwhile, this crafty pair added a blanket dress to complement the pillow style:

And the trend has even spawned its own fashion illustrations:

But this couple deserves a gold star for creatively getting the couch involved:

Water waste

In the UAE’s arid climate, small shrubs, bushes and flower beds usually require about six litres of water per square metre, daily. That increases to 12 litres per square metre a day for small trees, and 300 litres for palm trees.

Horticulturists suggest the best time for watering is before 8am or after 6pm, when water won't be dried up by the sun.

A global report published by the Water Resources Institute in August, ranked the UAE 10th out of 164 nations where water supplies are most stretched.

The Emirates is the world’s third largest per capita water consumer after the US and Canada.
