TikTok's ability to declare what is and isn't cool has become increasingly obvious over the past two years. Feta cheese pasta and dalgona coffee? Cool. Side partings? Definitely not.
In February, millennials everywhere were outraged when Gen-Z TikTok users declared the side parting was officially out.
"Prove me wrong, but I don't think that there is a single person who looks better with a side part than they do a middle part," TikTok user miss lady gleep says in one of her videos.
As a generation who favoured the middle parting, millennials were understandably shocked. Especially when the TikTok generation went as far as to label the hairstyle a sign of being old.
However, Sunday's Golden Globes can offer them some comfort, as, despite TikTok decidedly shunning the hairstyle, many of Hollywood's biggest names opted for a side parting for the awards ceremony. Maybe as a sign of defiance, or maybe because it still looks amazing, even if it does make you "old".
