Louis Vuitton and the NBA team up for a men's capsule collection

Louis Vuitton menswear designer Virgil Abloh has teamed up with the National Basketball Association (NBA) to create a limited-edition capsule collection.

In January, Vuitton announced the signing of a three-year deal with the NBA, the first glimpse of which was seen on October 11, after the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Miami Heat. The team was presented with the Larry O'Brien championship trophy, which arrived in a custom-made, hand-built Louis Vuitton case.

Now, the French house has released a sneak peek at the first men's capsule that will arrive in stores in November. Titled Louis Vuitton x NBA, this collection combines the upscale luxury of the maison with the sporting chops of basketball.

Even the colour scheme of red, white and blue, the colours of the NBA as well as the French flag, echoes across both brands.

Of the partnership, American designer Abloh is described as having been “motivated by the exchange between French craftsmanship and American sports”, and has created a collection that successfully melds these two very different worlds.

Abloh has created heavy soled Vuitton boots that carry an NBA swing tag, while a two-button jacket has been covered in the NBA motif of a basketball player, now reduced to a repeating pattern.

Elsewhere, an embossed leather blouson jacket is etched with the flowing lines of a basketball, as a tri-colour kit bag has been repurposed to carry a basketball.

The accompanying notes explain that Abloh was eager to build on the "iconography of the basketball universe". In creating this new space, his resulting designs feel light-spirited and fresh.

No more lice

Defining head lice

Pediculus humanus capitis are tiny wingless insects that feed on blood from the human scalp. The adult head louse is up to 3mm long, has six legs, and is tan to greyish-white in colour. The female lives up to four weeks and, once mature, can lay up to 10 eggs per day. These tiny nits firmly attach to the base of the hair shaft, get incubated by body heat and hatch in eight days or so.

Identifying lice

Lice can be identified by itching or a tickling sensation of something moving within the hair. One can confirm that a person has lice by looking closely through the hair and scalp for nits, nymphs or lice. Head lice are most frequently located behind the ears and near the neckline.

Treating lice at home

Head lice must be treated as soon as they are spotted. Start by checking everyone in the family for them, then follow these steps. Remove and wash all clothing and bedding with hot water. Apply medicine according to the label instructions. If some live lice are still found eight to 12 hours after treatment, but are moving more slowly than before, do not re-treat. Comb dead and remaining live lice out of the hair using a fine-toothed comb.
After the initial treatment, check for, comb and remove nits and lice from hair every two to three days. Soak combs and brushes in hot water for 10 minutes.Vacuum the floor and furniture, particularly where the infested person sat or lay.
