Kim Kardashian has announced that her shapewear line, Skims, will soon be available in the Middle East for the first time.

Sharing the news with her 193 million Instagram followers, the reality television veteran revealed that the line would be sold exclusively on luxury e-tailer Ounass.

“We’ve handpicked specific pieces for Middle Eastern women,” she said in a video posted to Instagram Stories.

Selected pieces from her line will be available in the region from Thursday, December 17.

Launched in 2019, Skims focuses on shapewear and loungewear, and has proved popular thanks to its diverse skin tone range and atypical shapewear styles.

It is reported to have made $2 million within 10 minutes of its release.

However, the line is no stranger to controversy. Last year, Kim, 40, renamed the line, which was first called Kimono, after the initial branding was deemed disrespectful to Japanese culture. Amid backlash, Kardashian told The New York Times that the name was meant to be "a nod to the beauty and detail that goes into a garment".

"I understand and have deep respect for the significance of the kimono in Japanese culture," she told the publication.

"My solutionwear brand is built with inclusivity and diversity at its core and I'm incredibly proud of what's to come.”

Kardashian then changed the name after asking her followers for ideas: “I love the idea that the pieces will be the closest thing to someone's skin, skimming with amazingly soft and supportive fabrics which accentuate the best parts of our bodies," she wrote, announcing the new name.

"My fans and followers are a huge inspiration to me — I'm always listening to their feedback and opinions, and am so grateful they shared their ideas for a new brand name."
