For his first couture show at Fendi, Kim Jones assembled quite the crop of names to showcase his designs for the storied Italian label.
Supermodels Bella Hadid, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington and Cara Delevingne took to the catwalk on Wednesday to parade Fendi's spring / summer 2021 collection at Paris Haute Couture Week.
They were joined on the runway by Ghost actress Demi Moore, who made a surprise cameo at the show, as well as Moss's teen daughter, Lila Grace, who also modelled designs.

The show marked Jones's debut collection for Fendi, after joining the label as lead womenswear designer in September 2020. He took up the mantle from Karl Lagerfeld, who died in 2019 after spending more than 50 years at the helm of the Italian brand.
Jones, who has previously worked at Dior and Louis Vuitton, unveiled his couture collection at the Palais Brongniart in the French capital. Streamed online but with no physical audience at the event, the show nodded towards the current climate with a socially distanced runway.
After showcasing designs on the catwalk, models posed in glass-fronted enclosures, appearing like high-fashion dolls encased in minimalist boxes.
For the collection, Jones took cues from some of the literary world's most renowned figures, such as English writer Virginia Woolf, with several models clasping books as they walked the runway.
Jones said he was inspired by the Bloomsbury Group, a collective of 20th-century British writers, intellectuals, philosophers and artists, for a collection in which "exquisite femininity and masculine androgyny appear as fluid choices rather than innate realities".
This translated into a Bohemian-infused glamour, with Victorian-influenced silhouettes, romantic capes, elaborate beading and embroidery, and a palette that harked back to trends of the early 20th century.
In his show notes, Jones quoted Woolf's Orlando: "Vain trifles as they seem, clothes have, they say, more important offices than to merely keep us warm. They change our view of the world and the world's view of us."
Paris Haute Couture Week, which began on Monday, January 25, runs until Thursday, January 28, with presentations from the likes of Chanel, Giorgio Armani and Jean-Paul Gaultier.
A number of brands from the region, namely Zuhair Murad, Elie Saab and Georges Hobeika, earlier pulled out of presenting collections, each citing the coronavirus pandemic as the reason for postponing.

WHAT IS GRAPHENE?
It was discovered in 2004, when Russian-born Manchester scientists Andrei Geim and Kostya Novoselov were experimenting with sticky tape and graphite, the material used as lead in pencils.
Placing the tape on the graphite and peeling it, they managed to rip off thin flakes of carbon. In the beginning they got flakes consisting of many layers of graphene. But when they repeated the process many times, the flakes got thinner.
By separating the graphite fragments repeatedly, they managed to create flakes that were just one atom thick. Their experiment led to graphene being isolated for the very first time.
In 2010, Geim and Novoselov were awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics.

Sheikh Zayed's poem
When it is unveiled at Abu Dhabi Art, the Standing Tall exhibition will appear as an interplay of poetry and art. The 100 scarves are 100 fragments surrounding five, figurative, female sculptures, and both sculptures and scarves are hand-embroidered by a group of refugee women artisans, who used the Palestinian cross-stitch embroidery art of tatreez. Fragments of Sheikh Zayed’s poem Your Love is Ruling My Heart, written in Arabic as a love poem to his nation, are embroidered onto both the sculptures and the scarves.
