King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium are in Oman for a three-day trip. They were greeted by Oman's Crown Prince Theyazin bin Haitham, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, and son of Sultan Haitham of Oman, on Wednesday.
For her arrival in Muscat, Queen Mathilde wore a Johanna Ortiz burnt orange and mint green palm-print midi dress with a matching mask. Ortiz is a Colombian designer, known for her use of vibrant colour and prints.
The dress was accessorised with a Christine Bekaert bamboo cuff and matching rust-coloured shoes and a clutch.
Following their arrival, they met Sultan Haitham.
On Thursday, their first full day in Oman, Queen Mathilde stepped out in a Maison Natan taffeta dress. Sticking with a horticultural theme, the white shirt dress was complete with statement belt and decorated in a pattern of red and green flowers and leaves. She also wore a red pillbox hat with co-ordinated red court shoes and a clutch of the same colour.
Following their visit to a hydrogen production facility in the town Duqm, the royals visited the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Muscat.
They shared photos of the visit on Instagram, writing in French, Dutch and English: "The day concludes with a visit to the Sultan Qaboos [Grand] Mosque, the most important and largest mosque in Oman."
Queen Mathilde wore a red headscarf and a red and purple print dress by Indian designer Anita Dongre, with an Armani clutch bag and Percossi Papi earrings.
On Friday, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde attended the official opening of the Port of Duqm. During the ceremony, they unveiled a commemorative plaque.
Queen Mathilde wore a co-ordinated set by Maison Natan. The burgundy and white patterned linen boat-necked top was paired with pleated trousers of the same print and fabric. She accessorised with a burgundy mask and clutch, also by Maison Natan, and Longchamp sunglasses.
The king and queen's visit was announced by Oman's Diwan of Royal Court on Tuesday.
"The visit comes within the framework of the good relations binding the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Belgium and stemming from the keenness of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and King Philippe Leopold Louis Marie of the Belgians in promoting the bilateral relations towards wider horizons in various spheres," the announcement read.
After their three-day visit to Oman, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde are travelling to the UAE, where they will visit Expo 2020 Dubai on Saturday for Belgium's country day celebrations.
"The Belgian Pavilion is one of the main attractions of the Expo," the Belgian royal office said. "It is an example of inclusive, sustainable and circular architecture, including 2,500 local plants that store carbon dioxide and lower indoor temperature."
Next week, the UK's Prince William will be in the UAE to visit Expo 2020 Dubai. The Duke of Cambridge will visit the site for the UK's country day celebrations on Thursday, February 10. He is expected to meet young Emiratis, government leaders and staff from the UK Pavilion on the day.
The prince's visit aims to build on the strong bond between the UK and UAE.

The more serious side of specialty coffee
While the taste of beans and freshness of roast is paramount to the specialty coffee scene, so is sustainability and workers’ rights.
The bulk of genuine specialty coffee companies aim to improve on these elements in every stage of production via direct relationships with farmers. For instance, Mokha 1450 on Al Wasl Road strives to work predominantly with women-owned and -operated coffee organisations, including female farmers in the Sabree mountains of Yemen.
Because, as the boutique’s owner, Garfield Kerr, points out: “women represent over 90 per cent of the coffee value chain, but are woefully underrepresented in less than 10 per cent of ownership and management throughout the global coffee industry.”
One of the UAE’s largest suppliers of green (meaning not-yet-roasted) beans, Raw Coffee, is a founding member of the Partnership of Gender Equity, which aims to empower female coffee farmers and harvesters.
Also, globally, many companies have found the perfect way to recycle old coffee grounds: they create the perfect fertile soil in which to grow mushrooms.

His life in brief: Born in a village near Galilee, he lived in exile for most of his life and started writing poetry after high school. He was arrested several times by Israel for what were deemed to be inciteful poems. Most of his work focused on the love and yearning for his homeland, and he was regarded the Palestinian poet of resistance. Over the course of his life, he published more than 30 poetry collections and books of prose, with his work translated into more than 20 languages. Many of his poems were set to music by Arab composers, most significantly Marcel Khalife. Darwish died on August 9, 2008 after undergoing heart surgery in the United States. He was later buried in Ramallah where a shrine was erected in his honour.
