What's red, white and blue, and glitters all over? The vast majority of celebrities in attendance at the Met Gala 2021, of course.
Held under the theme In America: A Lexicon of Fashion, A-list names from the worlds of style, sport and screen explored what it is to be American through their red carpet choices.
Traditionally, the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute's benefit gala is held annually in May to raise money for the institution. Last year, the event was cancelled owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. This year it was delayed by five months.
The delay has given the event no less sparkle, however.
Singer Billie Eilish, 19, was the youngest person ever to be tapped to co-chair the event. She was joined by actor Timothee Chalamet, 25, President Biden's inauguration poet Amanda Gorman, 23, and tennis star Naomi Osaka, 23. They witnessed a dazzling crop of unmasked A-list names descend upon New York's Metropolitan Museum for the "fashion Oscars".

All-American brand Ralph Lauren dressed Jennifer Lopez, Lily Aldridge and Kacey Musgraves for the event, while the likes of Kate Hudson, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello and Regina King were dressed by Michael Kors, another American favourite.
Dutch fashion designer Iris Van Herpen proved popular on the night, with Hailee Steinfeld, Tessa Thompson, Winnie Harlow and Gabrielle Union all sporting her gowns.
Style favourites were by no means forgotten. Hailey Bieber, Olivia Rodrigo and Zoe Kravitz wore Saint Laurent; Gigi Hadid, Rita Ora, Hunter Schafer and Ava DuVernay wore Prada; Gucci dressed Serena Williams, Addison Rae and Sienna Miller; and Kristen Stewart, Lily-Rose Depp and Emma Raducanu wore Chanel.
Opting for a classic, Marilyn Monroe-inspired look, co-chair Eilish wore Oscar de la Renta, as did Kaia Gerber.
Fellow co-chair Osaka was among the stars to wear Louis Vuitton, joined by Emma Chamberlain, Rebecca Hall, Dev Hynes and Kid Cudi, while Nepalese designer Prabal Gurung dressed the likes of Diane Kruger, Claire Danes and Gemma Chan.
