Jordan's Queen Rania and Melania Trump have reunited in New York at an event hosted by the US First Lady on Tuesday for the spouses of world leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Queen Rania shared a photo of the pair from the event, in which she can be seen wearing a cream silk satin midi dress by Balenciaga. She finished her look with a belt and bag by Jacquemus and leather pumps by Jordanian-Armenian designer Amina Mouddi.

Trump, meanwhile, chose an off-white Dolce & Gabbana pantsuit paired with a brown blouse by Max Mara.

Queen Rania also shared a photo of herself with her granddaughter, Amina, the firstborn of her eldest daughter, Princess Iman.

The event Melania Trump hosted was to launch her new initiative, Fostering the Future Together, which she said aims “to ensure that every child can flourish in the digital era”.

Fostering the Future Together will be implemented by participating members at the local level, within their respective countries, the White House Said, adding that Melania Trump will host the inaugural meeting at the White House “during the first quarter of 2026”.

Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska, wife of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, also attended the event.

The meeting was Queen Rania and Melania Trump's fourth in the US.

The pair last met in January in Florida, during Queen Rania and King Abdullah II's previous visit to the US, days before Donald Trump took office for his second term. They discussed various issues of mutual interest including children’s welfare and improving education, according to Queen Rania's official website.

Before that, they previously appeared together in 2018 during the Jordanian royals' official visit to the White House.

In 2017, they paid a visit together to Excel Academy – a school for girls in Washington and joined a listening session with students and a seventh-grade art class.

On Wednesday, Queen Rania spoke at a high-level ministerial meeting co-hosted by Jordan, Belgium and the European Union at the UN headquarters, which called for the urgent assistance of Palestinian children in Gaza and the West Bank.

For the event, she wore a pink floral print skirt by Emilia Wickstead and paired it with a pleated shirt by Sebline.

Other speakers at the event included Tom Fletcher, UN Undersecretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Co-ordinator, and Inger Ashing, the chief executive of Save the Children International.

Jordan, Belgium, and the EU jointly launched the Call to Action for Palestinian Children in the West Bank and Gaza in 2024, outlining a five-point plan for their assistance. The plan also aims to raise awareness about the suffering of Palestinian children and increase humanitarian support for them.

Wednesday’s follow-up meeting highlighted the conflict’s toll on Palestinian children, and the urgent need to protect and restore hope to young people in the West Bank and Gaza, Queen Rania's office said.

Currently endorsed by 71 UN Member States, the Call to Action for Palestinian Children in the West Bank and Gaza urges the implementation of several measures, including an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the respect of international law, an end to any grave violations against all children, the safe and unrestricted humanitarian access to and within Gaza, as well as the support of a scaled-up UN-coordinated humanitarian response to Palestinian children in Gaza and the West Bank.

Real estate tokenisation project

Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.

The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.

Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.

Muslim Council of Elders condemns terrorism on religious sites

The Muslim Council of Elders has strongly condemned the criminal attacks on religious sites in Britain.

It firmly rejected “acts of terrorism, which constitute a flagrant violation of the sanctity of houses of worship”.

“Attacking places of worship is a form of terrorism and extremism that threatens peace and stability within societies,” it said.

The council also warned against the rise of hate speech, racism, extremism and Islamophobia. It urged the international community to join efforts to promote tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

Labour dispute

The insured employee may still file an ILOE claim even if a labour dispute is ongoing post termination, but the insurer may suspend or reject payment, until the courts resolve the dispute, especially if the reason for termination is contested. The outcome of the labour court proceedings can directly affect eligibility.
