Emmy Awards 2024 fashion: Best red carpet looks from the night

Awards season continued with the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday night.

Stars from the world of television descended on the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, dazzling on the show's red carpet.

Monochrome looks were a go-to with statement red gowns and vibrant pops of colour breaking up the black and white palette.

Black and white red carpet

Black was a favourite on the night with Christina Ricci in a plunging Saint Laurent gown; Niecy Nash in a mermaid-tail Greta Constantine design; Lizzy Caplan in a full, strapless Dior look; and The Crown star Elizabeth Debicki in velvet Dior Haute Couture.

Grandmother and granddaughter duo Priscilla Presley and Riley Keough both sported black gowns, the latter wearing a Chanel design. Meanwhile, both Jennifer Coolidge and Courtney Eaton opted for black lace gowns; the Black Lotus star donned Etro and Australian actress Eaton wore a Jason Wu look.

On the opposite end of the colour spectrum were Tracee Ellis Ross and Sheryl Lee Ralph, who both sported white looks, wearing Sportmax and Christian Siriano, respectively. In off-white gowns were Issa Rae, in feathered and embellished Pamella Roland; Aubrey Plaza in Loewe; and Jenna Ortega in Christian Dior.

The divergent hues were also seen together. Ellen Pompeo and Kathryn Hahn wore similar white-blouse-and-black-skirt looks, each styled with a black ribbon bow tie. The actresses' gowns were designed by Monique Lhuillier and Dior Haute Couture, respectively.

Gothic styling

Dark lipstick, laced-up corsets and leather looks were seen on a number of stars on the night.

Selena Gomez took a romantic approach with her Oscar de la Renta gown, styled with rich burgundy lipstick, while Rachel Brosnahan opted for a corseted Versace gown.

On the leather end of the scale were The Bear star Ayo Edebiri, in custom Louis Vuitton, and Laverne Cox, who donned vintage Thierry Mugler. Actor Tyler James Williams wore a leather Dolce and Gabbana suit, accessorised with a diamond Cartier choker.

Seeing red

Red gowns are synonymous with Valentino design, and for the 2024 Emmy Awards pregnant actress and model Suki Waterhouse donned a vibrant ruby gown by the Italian fashion house.

In similar rich-red looks were Succession star Sarah Snook in Vivienne Westwood; American actress and model Camila Morrone in Versace; and Grey's Anatomy actress Katherine Heigl, who wore a strapless design by Lebanese designer Reem Acra.

Pops of colour

Bringing a rainbow of colour to the red carpet were the likes of Ali Wong in multicoloured Louis Vuitton; Quinta Brunson in dusty-rose Christian Dior; and Claire Danes, who wore pale-pink vintage Balmain. The Homeland actress's look was from the French fashion house's 1990 spring/summer collection.

Both Padma Lakshmi and Jessica Chastain donned lime-green looks, created by Marchesa and Gucci, respectively.

Men on the Emmys red carpet

Gents were strongly represented on the red carpet, with Jeremy Allen White in Armani; Colman Domingo in Louis Vuitton tails; and James Marsden in a Canali suit.

Floral-embellished looks were popular among men on the night, including Donald Glover in velvet Bode and host Anthony Anderson in Etro.

The show recognised television aired between June 1, 2022, and May 31, 2023, delayed from September due to the Writers Guild of America and Sag-Aftra strikes.
