Saudi Arabia's King Salman on Monday ordered the distribution of Ramadan aid of up to 2 billion riyals ($533.2 million) to social security beneficiaries, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Heads of families will be given 1,000 riyals and dependants 500 riyals, Spa reported.
The funds will be deposited into the bank accounts of beneficiaries, effective immediately.
The Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Ahmad Al Rajhi, expressed his gratitude to King Salman for his generous donation.
Ramadan is a month of giving for Muslims.
The Saudi government continues to support families in need, orphans, widows, elderly people, the unemployed and people of determination.
It offers financial aid for marriages and homes for low-income workers.
