Saudi Arabia’s oldest lorry distributor, Atheryon International Corporation, has signed an agreement with the UAE’s Al Habtoor Motors to sell new Mitsubishi Fuso lorries in the kingdom.

Al Habtoor Motors is one of the leading automobile distributors in the UAE today and has become synonymous with global brands such as Mitsubishi along with an impressive stable of high-end, luxury cars, such as Bentley, Bugatti and McLaren.

Established in 1983, the company, part of the conglomerate Al Habtoor Group, says its philosophy is based on the total commitment of its employees, recognised as its most valuable asset.

Al Habtoor Motors offers the full range of Mitsubishi passenger cars, 4x4s, Fuso and commercial vehicles along with the Temsa range of luxury coaches and buses with over 60,000 vehicles now imported from Japan every year.

Atheryon’s current facility in Riyadh is spread over 7,000 sqaure metres and will now also feature brand new Fusos from light duty to heavy duty, to expand their customer offering.

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation is a German-owned, Japanese-based manufacturer of lorries and buses headquartered in Kawasaki-shi, Kanagawa, which is one of the world’s largest tlorry manufacturers. Daimler of Germany owns 89.29 per cent of Mitsubishi Fuso, part of the Daimler Trucks division of Daimler. Fuso means “hibiscus”, an ancient name for Japan which was used by the Chinese, and was the name of the company’s first product in 1932.

Atheryon has also committed to building a brand new Fuso operation in Qassim city to sell lorries and maintain them with service facilities and genuine parts sales. The agreement was signed by Ahmed Abbad, the owner of Atheryon, and Simon Monahan, the country head for KSA for Al Habtoor.

Al Habtoor Motors is fully operational for lorry sales, service or genuine parts at both Riyadh facilities. With Atheryon ’s added support, this will increase sales of Fuso lorries, such as the FZ, in Saudi Arabia. Al Habtoor has also trained the sales team at Atheryon to better understand Fuso products.

“Al Habtoor Motors has received a warm welcome from truck resellers in Saudi Arabia,” said the firm’s Saudi Arabia country head Simon Monahan. “We are delighted to have Atheryon International as our official reseller. This partnership helps us serve truck operators better by making sure that service facilities are close-by, to reduce fleet costs, so we are excited to welcome Atheryon as our partner in Riyadh and Qassim to deliver the best possible Fuso customer care.”
