Starting on the 7th of December and running until the 30th, the Cultural Programmes and Heritage Festivals Committee in Abu Dhabi will hold Al Dhafra Festival for the ninth time.
This year, the committee decided to make a market selling traditional products a permanent fixture, in what they are calling the Permanent Heritage Traditional Market.
Held in the Western Region in Abu Dhabi, this year the committee has expressed interest in promoting traditional Emirati handicrafts.
“The market has also served as an ideal platform to promote the pioneering projects of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to safeguard and support national identity and local culture,” said the director of the heritage activities, Obaid Al Mazrouei.
Organisers said that the first phase of the project has already kicked off and includes the development of the grounds, the infrastructure and the main market itself.
