The Ajman-based hospitality group R Hotels will bring AccorHotels’ first MGallery property in the Middle East to The Palm Jumeirah, scheduled for a soft opening in the summer.
The Palm is among the best-performing hotel markets in Dubai in terms of room prices and occupancy rates. The average forecast daily room rate on The Palm for the year is US$462, the highest in Dubai and the UAE, according to the consultancy Colliers International. The average occupancy rate is expected to be about 79 per cent for the full year, just behind that of Dubai Marina, Colliers said.
The 255-room Retreat Palm Dubai – MGallery By Sofitel is branded as a wellness resort with its own nutritionists, lifestyle consultants and healthy food choices on the menu.
“The property is also geared to receive single women travellers [with amenities such as] 25 activities to do in Dubai tailor-made for a single woman traveller,” said Samir Arora, the cluster general manager for R Hotels.
Scheduled to open in June, the Retreat Palm Dubai is located on the Palm’s east crescent.
It is not the only new hotel on The Palm. The Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai opened on March 31. It is among the 12 hotels currently operational on The Palm.
There are 22 hotels under construction, including St Regis Dubai – The Palm and the Royal Atlantis.
“As a destination, The Palm deserves as many hotels and it still has not reached a level of having too many hotels,” said Mikael Svensson, the general manager of Viceroy Palm Jumeirah.
The area is also adding more retail space. The master developer Nakheel is building the Nakheel Mall and the promenade Palm West Beach.
