ABU DHABI // Tickets for the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens are now on sale with organisers expecting more than 100,000 fans and 4,000 players at this year’s tournament.

The three-day event, now in its 46th year, will be held at the Sevens Stadium from December 3 to 5.

Expecting the 2015 tournament to be the biggest ever, organisers have put tickets up for sale two weeks earlier than last year.

“The Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens has grown dramatically, not only with our fan base but also with the level of players taking part in both the main Tournament and the Invitation Tournament,” said Donal Kilalea, Tournament Commercial and Operations Director.

Mr Kilalea said 2015 is a very special year for the tournament and Rugby Sevens as spectators will be watching a sport which will feature in the Olympics for the first time in Rio next year.

“We have seen the power of the Rugby Sevens go from strength to strength...we now have international players of a very high standard taking part, which has the power to attract people from all over the world,” he said.

The Invitation Tournament will see action on all of the stadium’s eight pitches with more than 250 teams taking part.

The event will also host a number of activities alongside the main attraction including a netball tournament comprised of 32 teams and 750 players from across the region as well as music performances, a teenager zone, and cheerleaders.

Tickets are available from dubairugby7s.com.

Tips to stay safe during hot weather
  • Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water. Avoid alcohol and caffeine, which can increase dehydration.
  • Seek cool environments: Use air conditioning, fans, or visit community spaces with climate control.
  • Limit outdoor activities: Avoid strenuous activity during peak heat. If outside, seek shade and wear a wide-brimmed hat.
  • Dress appropriately: Wear lightweight, loose and light-coloured clothing to facilitate heat loss.
  • Check on vulnerable people: Regularly check in on elderly neighbours, young children and those with health conditions.
  • Home adaptations: Use blinds or curtains to block sunlight, avoid using ovens or stoves, and ventilate living spaces during cooler hours.
  • Recognise heat illness: Learn the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke (dizziness, confusion, rapid pulse, nausea), and seek medical attention if symptoms occur.
