Facebook announced it had solved issues with media on its platforms after more than eight hours of problems on Thursday morning,
Social media users in the UAE experienced difficulties using Facebook's platforms as part of a global issue affecting Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram.
Facebook said it was working to resolve the problems faced by some users while sending media files.
Others were also having problems viewing or opening images on Facebook.
More than 14,000 users reported issues using Instagram, while more than 7,500 and 1,600 users reported issues with Facebook and WhatsApp, website downdetector.com said.
The website's live map showed the problems were in parts of Europe, the US and the Middle East.
Facebook experienced one of its longest cuts in March, when users around the globe had problems accessing the three platforms for more than 24 hours.
Naturally, social media turned to Twitter with #instagramdown #facebookdown #whatsappdown leading the trends.

But the service was experiencing issues with direct messages and notifications.
"We’re working on a fix and will follow up as soon as we have an update for you. Apologies for the inconvenience," Twitter said ... in a tweet.

The more serious side of specialty coffee
While the taste of beans and freshness of roast is paramount to the specialty coffee scene, so is sustainability and workers’ rights.
The bulk of genuine specialty coffee companies aim to improve on these elements in every stage of production via direct relationships with farmers. For instance, Mokha 1450 on Al Wasl Road strives to work predominantly with women-owned and -operated coffee organisations, including female farmers in the Sabree mountains of Yemen.
Because, as the boutique’s owner, Garfield Kerr, points out: “women represent over 90 per cent of the coffee value chain, but are woefully underrepresented in less than 10 per cent of ownership and management throughout the global coffee industry.”
One of the UAE’s largest suppliers of green (meaning not-yet-roasted) beans, Raw Coffee, is a founding member of the Partnership of Gender Equity, which aims to empower female coffee farmers and harvesters.
Also, globally, many companies have found the perfect way to recycle old coffee grounds: they create the perfect fertile soil in which to grow mushrooms.

Safety 'top priority' for rival hyperloop company
The chief operating officer of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, Andres de Leon, said his company's hyperloop technology is “ready” and safe.
He said the company prioritised safety throughout its development and, last year, Munich Re, one of the world's largest reinsurance companies, announced it was ready to insure their technology.
“Our levitation, propulsion, and vacuum technology have all been developed [...] over several decades and have been deployed and tested at full scale,” he said in a statement to The National.
“Only once the system has been certified and approved will it move people,” he said.
HyperloopTT has begun designing and engineering processes for its Abu Dhabi projects and hopes to break ground soon.
With no delivery date yet announced, Mr de Leon said timelines had to be considered carefully, as government approval, permits, and regulations could create necessary delays.
