Emirates NBD (ENBD) - the country's biggest lender by assets - this week launched a new service for debit and credit-card customers that adds another layer of security to their online transactions.
With online shopping on the rise in the UAE, the security of our transactions and the possibility of our data being stolen is a major concern for consumers.
In fact, in a survey released by MasterCard in January this year, 45 per cent of people in the UAE said they don't feel secure shopping online.
But ENBD is hoping to change that with a new service called DoubleSecure, which it has launched in partnership with Visa and MasterCard.
"Given the increasing use of cards online, we believe it is important to add an extra layer of security to prevent unauthorised use," R Sivaram, the head of cards business at ENBD, said in a statement on yesterday.
The service is available on merchant sites that display the logos "Verified by Visa" and "MasterCard SecureCode", global anti-fraud systems employed by the card payment giants.
ENBD says enrolment in DoubleSecure is a simple process and can be completed by following the instructions while making a transaction on a participating merchant website.
