Emily in Paris star Lily Collins has invested in Roz, the hair care brand from celebrity stylist Mara Roszak.

The actress was part of an “oversubscribed” seed funding round led by private equity firms Silas Capital and G9 Ventures, the company announced on August 12. The value of her investment was not disclosed.

Collins, 35, joins previous celebrity angel investors including Mila Kunis, Daisy Ridley and Zoe Saldana, who invested during an earlier friends-and-family investment round.

The money will be used to support the brand’s retail expansion plans and improve its presence in the professional beauty sector, according to Roz.

Ms Roszak, who founded Roz in 2021, will also use the investment to expand the brand’s team and further expand its product lines.

“Roz is my greatest passion, and having growth partners who share my excitement and understand my vision is a dream come true,” said Ms Roszak.

Collins, who’s the daughter of musician Phil Collins, is reported to have a personal fortune worth $25 million, according to wealth tracker Celebrity Net Worth.

The English and American actress and model appeared in her first acting role at the age of two on the BBC series Growing Pains.

Collins is most famous for her roles in films such as Mirror Mirror, Love, Rosie, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile and To The Bone.

For her titular role in Netflix’s Emily in Paris, she is reported to be making around $300,000 per episode. She has also produced Emily in Paris and the film Windfall.

Collins has endorsed several brands over the years including Dior, Cartier, Maison Perrier and Lancome.

In 2022, she paid $3.9 million for a home in Pasadena, California.

Karan Johar

Indian filmmaker Karan Johar has joined hands with the Fashion Entrepreneur Fund, the country’s first venture studio dedicated to the fashion sector, as an investor and promoter.

Following in the footsteps of actor Akshay Kumar, Johar is set to guide start-ups and fashion entrepreneurs through mentorship and financial support, according to a statement from the Fund on August 13.

Founded in 2021, the Fund is designed to address the fashion industry’s lack of infrastructure and opportunities for growth. It is investing 200 million Indian rupees ($2.4 million) to support entrepreneurs in the fashion industry.

“The growing popularity of homegrown ventures showcases the incredible talent within India and highlights a shift towards embracing our unique style,” Johar, 52, said.

“My objective is to bring glamour and trends to the forefront, supporting these brands as they captivate audiences globally. Through this initiative, we will help fashion entrepreneurs set new trends and achieve unprecedented success.”

The director, producer, screenwriter and actor, who owns production house Dharma Productions, is estimated to have a net worth of $40 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

He made his directorial debut with the film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, in 1998. He also made other blockbuster movies including Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006) and Student of the Year (2012).

He also hosts the popular TV talk show Koffee with Karan, for which he is reported to earn between 10 million and 20 million rupees per episode.

He has also appeared as a judge on competition reality shows including Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and India’s Got Talent.

Johar owns a sea-facing duplex mansion in Carter Road, Mumbai, which is reported to be worth 320 million rupees. His property portfolio also includes a Malabar Hill mansion worth 200 million rupees and an office space, both in Mumbai, and another home in New Delhi.

He invested in an artificial intelligence-led influencer marketing platform called Kofluence in 2022.

The filmmaker also ventured into the jewellery business with his label named Tyaani in 2021 and made a foray into the hospitality sector last year by launching a restaurant in Mumbai called Neuma.

Kevin Durant

US basketball player Kevin Durant has become a minority investor in French football club Paris Saint-Germain.

Durant’s investment firm Boardroom announced on August 13 that it has bought a shareholding through a separate financial vehicle created by Arctos Sports Partners. The US-based private investment firm had purchased a 12.5 per cent stake in the club in December.

Durant, 35, was in Paris for the Olympic Games, where he secured his fourth gold medal.

He is now the leading scorer in Team USA's men's Olympic basketball history, the first Team USA player to win four Olympic gold medals, and the first male athlete to win four gold medals in a team sport.

The two-time NBA champion is already a minority owner in two football teams. He became an investor in the Major League Soccer club Philadelphia Union in 2020 and joined the minority ownership of NJ/NY Gotham FC club in the National Women’s Soccer League franchise in 2022.

Durant also holds a stake in the Major League Pickleball club Brooklyn Aces.

PSG is one of the most dominant clubs in Europe, having won six of the past seven titles in Ligue 1, the top French league.

It is the seventh most valuable football club in the world, according to Sportico, valued at $4.05 billion.

The majority stake in the club is owned by Qatar Sports Investments, which purchased the club in 2011. Since then, they have won 32 trophies and signed international star players including Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The NBA star has a net worth of $300 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

His $42 million NBA salary makes him one of the five highest-paid players in the league. His multiple lucrative endorsement deals allow him to earn tens of millions more each year.

Off the court, he earns $36 million from endorsement deals with companies like Gatorade, Nike, Degree and more.

In 2023, Durant became the third player in NBA history to sign a lifetime contract with Nike. The other two players are Michael Jordan and LeBron James.

He has also made a number of venture capital investments. He owns small stakes in a number of companies, including Postmates and the investment app Acorns, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

He is an active tech investor with more than 40 early-stage technology investments, the website reported.

In 2023, he joined Jordan and others in a $305 million funding round in Dapper Labs, the company behind virtual trading-card platform NBA Top Shot.

Durant owns several properties in the Oklahoma City area. In 2021, he paid $15.6 million for a home in Hidden Hills, California.

Sachin Tendulkar

Retired Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is gearing up for a new innings off the pitch.

He is set to become an entrepreneur with the launch of a sports athleisure brand, according to Indian daily Economic Times.

A holding company has already been registered for the venture. Early-stage venture fund Whiteboard Capital incubated the start-up along with Tendulkar, the daily reported.

Filings show Tendulkar and Whiteboard Capital are currently on the board of directors of the holding firm named SRT10 Athleisure.

The company is likely to position itself as a rival to top brands like Nike, but at an affordable pricing with local manufacturing, according to reports.

In recent years, Tendulkar, 51, has made several equity investments in Indian companies, including smart devices brand Smartron, used car start-up Spinny and gaming platform JetSynthesys.

The former Indian batsman invested in Azad Engineering, which provides engineering and technology solutions for global equipment manufacturers in the energy, defence and aerospace sectors, last year.

In 2022, Tendulkar, who holds the record for most runs in Test cricket and one-day internationals, teamed up with digital collectibles platform Rario as an investor and brand ambassador, marking his first foray into non-fungible tokens.

The platform offers fans NFTs and personalised experiences that feature highlights from Tendulkar’s 24-year career.

He has a net worth of $200 million, according to estimates by Celebrity Net Worth.
