UAE markets opened in negative territory in early trading as property stocks continued to drag down shares this morning.
The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) General Index fell 0.2 per cent to 1,698.63 points and the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange Index slipped 0.08 per cent to 2,740.46 points.
Emirates NBD led declines in Dubai as shares dropped 1.8 per cent to Dh3.21.
Other losers on the exchange were Dubai Investments Company, which fell 1.08 per cent to Dh0.91 and Aramex, which lost 1.5 per cent to Dh2.01.
In Abu Dhabi, property shares continued to weigh on the exchange as Aldar fell 0.43 per cent to Dh2.3 and Arkan reversed yesterday’s gains to fall nearly 2 per cent to Dh2.03.
But banking stocks in the Emirate fared better and National Bank of Abu Dhabi rose 1.23 per cent to Dh12.3.

Safety 'top priority' for rival hyperloop company
The chief operating officer of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, Andres de Leon, said his company's hyperloop technology is “ready” and safe.
He said the company prioritised safety throughout its development and, last year, Munich Re, one of the world's largest reinsurance companies, announced it was ready to insure their technology.
“Our levitation, propulsion, and vacuum technology have all been developed [...] over several decades and have been deployed and tested at full scale,” he said in a statement to The National.
“Only once the system has been certified and approved will it move people,” he said.
HyperloopTT has begun designing and engineering processes for its Abu Dhabi projects and hopes to break ground soon.
With no delivery date yet announced, Mr de Leon said timelines had to be considered carefully, as government approval, permits, and regulations could create necessary delays.
