Abu Dhabi to host its flagship energy event Adipec on November 9-12

Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference, the emirate’s flagship energy industry event, will be held online from November 9 to 12 and will gather global energy leaders to assess the measures taken by the sector to fast-track recovery post Covid-19.

The oil and gas industry’s largest exhibition and conference is being hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and will feature more than 135 sessions, with 700 speakers and 115 technical sessions. The virtual exhibition will host more than 100 companies.

The next "full in-person" Adipec will take place from November 9 to 12, 2021 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, the organisers said.

“Adipec is regarded as the premier thought leadership event within the oil and gas industry, bringing together industry leaders and renowned technical experts to discuss, debate and to share ideas,” said Omar Suwaina Al Suwaidi, chairman of Adipec.

“Despite facing unprecedented challenges in 2020, our industry has shown remarkable flexibility, commitment and a strong resilience in responding to adverse market conditions. As we continue to meet the global demand for energy, I am confident that Adipec will provide many new opportunities for collaboration and innovation as we respond to new realities throughout global markets.”

Adipec was moved online following a directive from Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism in July. The department advised against events taking place to ensure social distancing measures can be observed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speakers at this year’s Adipec include Dr Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Adnoc Group chief executive; Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Mohammad Barkindo, Opec Secretary General; and Joseph McMonigle, Secretary General, International Energy Forum, among others.

Chief executives of oil and gas majors Total, BP, Eni, Inpex Corporation, Wintershall DEA, Cepsa, Tellurian and Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation are also confirmed to speak at the virtual event.

Last year’s event was attended by the chief executives of BP, Total and Eni and was headlined by Condoleezza Rice, former US Secretary of State in the George W Bush administration. The event was attended by more than 155,000 participants.

The Covid-19 pandemic has led to the cancellation of several key events in the energy industry’s calendar.
