Ajman issues guidelines to reopen recreational facilities

Ajman’s Department of Economic Development has issued guidelines to help training centres, educational and consultancy service offices, and recreational centres to safely resume operations.

The directives, which outline all the steps that establishments must follow to ensure the health and safety of the community, will help sports academies, football pitches, museums, art exhibitions and public libraries among other facilities to open safely.

Abdullah Ahmad Alhamrani, assistant director general for Economic Registration and Control Affairs, said all workers in these facilities would be subject to a coronavirus test and must wear face masks at all times. Both employees and visitors must maintain a safe distance inside the premises.

Authorities said mandatory temperature testing of all employees and visitors must be carried out before they entered a facility. The company premises and frequently used equipment and devices must also be sanitised.

A copy of the guidelines is available in Arabic and English on the Ajman DED website (www.ajmanded.ae) or can be obtained by contacting the government call centre on 80070.

Ajman has adopted a phased approach to resume economic activities after the Covid-19 pandemic led officials to impose movement restrictions to contain its spread.

In the first phase of reopening in April, the authorities in Ajman had permitted shopping malls, commercial centres, barber shops, salons, restaurants and cafes to resume activity but at a reduced capacity.

In May, the Ajman DED allowed cinemas, gyms, children salons, car washes, car valets and a number of other services to resume with a maximum 50 per cent visitor capacity. The authorities also announced in May that the emirate's retail and wholesale trading sector could operate at 70 per cent capacity.
