Can UK national return home from UAE with just two months left on passport?

My family and I will be travelling back to the UK for a holiday soon, but there are only two months left on my passport and I am planning to get it renewed when I am back. I have been told that you cannot get in or out of any country if you have less than six months left so now I am worried that I either won’t be allowed to leave or I will have to get it renewed before I leave. That’s a problem in itself, as renewals are currently taking at least two months. Please advise as I am worried. LG, Abu Dhabi

It is fairly standard practice for countries to require that foreign nationals, whether on holiday or resident, have six months left on a passport before expiry on entry to the country, but it is not the same when someone returns to a home country. Provided the passport is valid at the date of exit you will not have a problem exiting the UAE or re-entering the UK. When you get the passport renewed you will need to keep the old and new passports together, as the old one will still have your current residency visa in it.

Real estate tokenisation project

Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.

The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.

Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
