Mubadala Investment Company, through two of its units, signed contracts for manufacturing aircraft parts and engine maintenance services with Boeing and Dubai Airspace Enterprises, respectively, as it seeks to broaden its aviation partnerships.
Turbine Services and Solutions (TS&S), an engine maintenance and repair unit wholly owned by Mubadala, will service the engines of aircraft in local lessor DAE’s fleet including the V2500 engine that powers Airbus A320s, Trent 700s and GEnx , the company said on Monday. TS&S works with aircraft engine manufacturers and airlines globally, including Rolls Royce, GE, Pratt & Whitney, Etihad Airways, IndiGo and SriLankan Airlines.
Strata, the plane-parts maker based in Al Ain and wholly owned by Mubadala, won a new contract to supply Boeing with composite parts on the 777X, its latest generation aircraft, at a facility in Al Ain where it will make make the empennage ribs that form the stabilising sections of tail planes, the company said separately on Monday.
Strata also signed another deal to manufacture belly fairings for the PC-24, a twin-engine business jet by Switzerland’s Pilatus Aircraft.

Strata is part of Abu Dhabi’s efforts to build a manufacturing hub in the emirate to diversify its oil-reliant economy and create more jobs for young Emiratis. Strata manufactures parts for Boeing, Airbus, ATR turboprop jets from its base in the UAE.
The country is one of the biggest customers of wide-body aircraft. Strata produces parts for the Airbus A380 superjumbo, of which Emirates is the biggest operator, as well as A350, Boeing 777s and 787 Dreamliners.
