Aldar Academies set to manage Adnoc schools

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) announced yesterday an agreement with schools operator Aldar Academies to manage its four schools in the emirate, the latest step in the reorganisation of its education portfolio.

Under the terms of the agreement, Aldar Academies, a unit of Abu Dhabi-based developer Aldar Properties, will operate Adnoc’s schools in Sas Al Nakhl, Ruwais, Madinat Zayed and Ghayathi, beginning in September.

The financial value of the agreement was not disclosed.

Adnoc will retain ownership of the academies, a company spokesman told The National.

“Today marks an important milestone in the Adnoc Schools’ journey as we prepare our students to reach their highest potential and also create new professional development opportunities for our cadre of teaching staff,” said Ghannam Al Mazrouei, the chairman of Adnoc Schools’ board of trustees.

“In doing so, we’re delighted to appoint Aldar Academies, one of Abu Dhabi’s leading education providers, to share their best practice experience, knowledge, innovation and operational excellence.”

The agreement between Adnoc and Aldar Academies comes seven months after the announcement of a merger between Abu Dhabi – based university the Petroleum Institute, which lists Adnoc as a sponsor and an affiliate, with Khalifa University and the Masdar Institute.

Aldar Academies operates seven private schools in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, including academies in West Yas, Al Ain and Al Mamoura.
