Reese Witherspoon was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia, for alleged disorderly conduct after her husband, the talent agent James Toth, was stopped by police on suspicion of drunken driving. Witherspoon, 37, was arrested on Friday after she quarrelled with officers who had taken Toth, 42, into custody after he failed a blood-alcohol breath test. Witherspoon was warned to stay inside the vehicle, but she got out of the automobile and said "she was a US citizen" and that she had the right to "stand on American ground". Witherspoon was then arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct. According to Variety, Witherspoon told the police officer: "Do you know my name? You're about to find out who I am … You're going to be on national news." The couple were taken to jail, booked and released hours later. On Sunday, Witherspoon said in a statement: "I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. Carly Rae Jepsen came out on top on Sunday night during Canada's national music awards, winning Album of the Year, Pop Album of the Year and Single of the Year for her hit Call Me Maybe. Jepsen seemed stunned that her gold-selling album Kiss beat out Justin Bieber and Celine Dion at the Juno Awards. However, Bieber did take home his fourth career Juno for Fan Choice Award. Studio remains in hunt for Snow White sequel
A follow-up to Snow White and the Huntsman is moving forward, though it's still unclear if Kristen Stewart will return as the warrior princess. Adam Fogelson, the chair of Universal Pictures, says the studio is aiming for a 2015 release on the sequel to last year's fairy-tale action story. Do your homework
Make sure that you are being offered a fair salary. There is lots of industry data available, and you can always talk to people who have come out of the organisation. Where I see people coming a cropper is where they haven’t done their homework.
Don’t be afraid to negotiate
It’s quite standard to negotiate if you think an offer is on the low side. The job is unlikely to be withdrawn if you ask for money, and if that did happen I’d question whether you want to work for an employer who is so hypersensitive.
Know your worth
Women tend to be a bit more reticent to talk about their achievements. In my experience they need to have more confidence in their own abilities – men will big up what they’ve done to get a pay rise, and to compete women need to turn up the volume.
Work together
If you suspect men in your organisation are being paid more, look your boss in the eye and say, “I want you to assure me that I’m paid equivalent to my peers”. If you’re not getting a straight answer, talk to your peer group and consider taking direct action to fix inequality.
Real estate tokenisation project
Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.
The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.
Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
