Tupac Shakur fans, keep ya head up. The Broadway musical Holler If Ya Hear Me that uses songs from one of hip-hop's greatest artists is closing after less than two months.
Producers said today that the show will close next week at the Palace Theatre after playing just 17 previews and 38 regular performances.
The producer Eric L Gold in a statement cited “the financial burdens of Broadway” for the reason.
The show was in financial trouble from the moment it debuted in early June. Last week, it managed to pull in only US$155,000 from a potential of $917,000 – or less than 17 per cent. Discounting had left the average ticket price at $38.44, easily Brodway’s cheapest seat.

The rules on fostering in the UAE
A foster couple or family must:
- be Muslim, Emirati and be residing in the UAE
- not be younger than 25 years old
- not have been convicted of offences or crimes involving moral turpitude
- be free of infectious diseases or psychological and mental disorders
- have the ability to support its members and the foster child financially
- undertake to treat and raise the child in a proper manner and take care of his or her health and well-being
