The story: The crew of the USS Enterprise are attacked by an unknown wave of aliens that forces them to abandon ship. Marooned on a distant planet, they face a mysterious new enemy.
The shoot: Look out for scenes filmed at the Jumeirah Lakes Towers metro station, the Dubai International Financial Centre and Sheikh Zayed Road.

War Machine
The director: David Michôd.
The stars: Brad Pitt, Topher Grace, Tilda Swinton, Anthony Michael Hall, Ben Kingsley.
The buzz: The satirical comedy is streaming platform Netflix's biggest film production to date.
The story: Based on The Operators, a nonfiction book by journalist Michael Hastings detailing his experiences covering the war in Afghanistan.
The shoot: Abu Dhabi stands in for Kabul, with the Abu Dhabi Media compound transformed to become the American embassy in the Afghan capital. Scenes were also filmed in Ras Al Khaimah, the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, the Abu Dhabi New York Film Academy and the Abu Dhabi desert. The film features 500 extras from the UAE.

Kung Fu Yoga
The director: Stanley Tong. The stars: Jackie Chan, Aarif Rahman, Disha Patani, Amyra Dastur, Sonu Sood.
The buzz: This Chinese production staring the 62-year-old martial-arts star was filmed in Dubai, Beijing and India.
The story: A multilingual action comedy about an archaeology professor (Chan), whose search for a lost Indian treasure takes him around the world.
The shoot: Scenes were shot at Dubai Marina Walk and Atlantis The Palm. A car chase was also filmed in The Boulevard in Downtown Dubai.
