It's a sad day for Stieg Larsson fans across the region as it transpires that the Sony Pictures English-language remake of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, which has been getting the film world all in a fluster over the past few months, will not be screening in the UAE.
The film made it past the censors, but unfortunately the cuts they proposed weren't approved by the film producers and Lisbeth Salander will now not be landing in Arab cinemas.
"We weren't allowed to make the cuts which were necessary," said Piroska Szakacs of local distributors Empire International. "The filmmakers wouldn't allow it."
Rubbing salt in the wounds, Szakacs says that it's a "brilliant movie".
However, should anyone be that desperate to see the film, it will be released in Lebanon.
