Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas have welcomed their first child.

The 24-year-old Game of Thrones star and her 30-year-old pop star husband announced the birth on Monday.

“Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are delighted to announce the birth of their baby," they said in a statement released through Jonas's label, Republic Records.

The couple have been private about the pregnancy, although were often pictured out and about close to their home in Los Angeles.

They are said to have welcomed a daughter, with sources close to the couple saying they have named her Willa.

Fans were quick to point out that the name had a link to Game of Thrones, in which Turner played Sansa Stark, as two minor characters bearing the name appeared across the show's eight seasons.

Turner, who is British, began dating American singer Jonas in 2016, and the pair married in a Las Vegas ceremony in May 2019.

The Vegas nuptials were followed by a lavish ceremony a month later in the south of France.

During lockdown in the US, Turner told talk show host Conan O'Brien that she had been enjoying her time at home. “I'm kind of loving it. I'm an introvert, I'm a homebody, if I could stay at home all day I would, so this is great for me,” she said.

“Everything seems to be working out in my favour here because Joe is a real social butterfly and I struggle to lock him down and just spend time with me. It's like a prison for him, but it's great for me.”
