Sir David Attenborough receives Covid-19 vaccine

Sir David Attenborough has become the latest high-profile figure to receive the coronavirus vaccine.

The natural historian, 94, is confirmed to have received the vaccine in the past few days, although it has not been revealed whether he received the Pfizer-BioNTech or AstraZeneca variant – the two vaccines currently available in the UK.

The news comes just days after it was revealed that Queen Elizabeth II had been vaccinated alongside her husband, Prince Philip.

Attenborough has been isolating at his London home throughout the pandemic, and has previously spoken of his support for the global drive in finding a vaccine against Covid-19.

"It [Covid-19] has drawn attention to the fact we aren't as omnipotent and all-controlling as we think we are," he said in an interview with The Telegraph in December.

Speaking of his desire to receive the vaccine, he said: “At 94, I think I'm entitled!"

Earlier this week, Dame Joan Collins, 87, said she was delighted to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.

The actress and author, 87, received the AstraZeneca vaccine at a surgery in London on Saturday.

Collins was among the first to receive the coronavirus jab created at England's prestigious Oxford University.
