Scott Schuman aka The Sartorialist coming to Dubai as part of FFWD

Scott Schuman, the man behind the wildly popular style blog The Sartorialist – which attracts a staggering 14 million views per month – is coming to Dubai as part of FFWD.

Launched 12 years ago, The Sartorialist came about after Scott Schuman quit his role as a director of men's fashion at a showroom, and turned his considerable photography skills toward documenting street style.

Driven by an intense personal interest in fashion, he quickly garnered a reputation for capturing individual looks, favouring personal flair over a dictated dress code.

His knack for celebrating his subjects in candid yet upbeat portraits with a distinct “real people” approach, marked a new direction for the industry.

In 2007, he published The Sartorialist, followed by The Sartorialist: Closer in 2012. Both issues sold out quickly. In his third book, The Sartorialist X, Schuman ventures further afield.

As Schuman explained to Vogue: "I really travelled the world to explore what style and beauty means to a host of different cultures. I went to Dubai, Kiev, Johannesburg, Morocco, northern India and Peru, and the pictures from these faraway places juxtapose so nicely with the more established fashion capitals, as well as places like Bangkok and Mumbai. I find so much inspiration in diversity and in challenging my eye to appreciate unfamiliar colours, patterns and shapes. In this sense, this is the book I've been waiting to do."

In 2012, Schuman was awarded the Media Award by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. His work has appeared in Vogue Italia, Vogue Paris and Interview magazine. Schuman is also in the permanent collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography.
