Controversial Bollywood star Salman Khan – who has lost no time getting back to work following the suspension of his recently announced five-year jail term – will perform at the debut Arab Indo Bollywood Awards on May 29 at Meydan racecourse, in Dubai, organisers confirmed on Tuesday, May 12.
Khan is currently back in Kashmir filming Kabir Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan according to Kabir. "@BeingSalmanKhan is back in Kashmir... last 5 days of shooting left for #BajrangiBhaijaan," the director tweeted from his account.
Khan’s sentence for killing a homeless man with his SUV after a night out drinking 13 years ago was suspended on Friday, May 8, pending an appeal. The 49-year-old actor was found guilty at a sessions court of culpable homicide and other charges for driving his vehicle into a group of homeless men sleeping rough in suburban Mumbai in 2002.
Khan will lead a line-up of top actors scheduled to perform at the Arab Indo Bollywood Awards, including Priyanka Chopra, Jacqueline Fernandez, Varun Dhawan, Parineethi Chopra, Neha Dhupia and Kanika Kapoor, who count among more than 150 celebrities and stars from the UAE and the Middle East.
The event, the first of its kind in the Middle East, will be hosted by the filmmaker Karan Johar and TV presenter Manish Paul, and will be preceded by a red-carpet event where celebrities will meet and greet fans.
