The Hollywood star Russell Crowe and his wife of nine years Danielle Spencer have split up, according to press reports. The Australian couple separated amicably, the Sydney Morning Herald said, and both were determined to protect their two children, aged eight and six, from any publicity. No public comment has been made by the Oscar-winning actor or his musician wife. Rumours that their relationship was in trouble surfaced in June this year when photos appeared showing Spencer on a night out with her Dancing With The Stars partner Damian Whitewood. Brad Pitt the new face of Chanel No.5
Brad Pitt has become the first male to lend his face to the iconic Chanel No.5 fragrance. Following in the footsteps of the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Tatou and Nicole Kidman, Pitt stars in a 30-second black-and-white commercial, for which he was reportedly paid US$7 million (Dh25.7 million) for his efforts. Explaining the choice of Brad Pitt, Chanel's chief executive Maureen Chiquet told Vanity Fair magazine: "No.5 is the most iconic fragrance of our time, and Brad Pitt is the most iconic actor of our time."
Member of Jerry Lee Lewis band shot dead
Police say a member of Jerry Lee Lewis' band has been killed in a shootout in Memphis. Reports say BB Cunningham Jr was working as a security guard in a neighbouring apartment when he heard a heard a shot in the Cherry Crest apartments and went to investigate. Police didn't provide details, but they said when officers arrived both Cunningham and a 16-year-old boy were found dead from gunshot wounds. Cunningham had been a keyboardist with Lewis' band since 1997. His solo album, Hangin' In, was released in 2003. * AP
Lohan arranges sit-down with Barbara Walters
Lindsay Lohan has reportedly signed up for a one-on-one interview with the legendary Barbara Walters. According to the TMZ website, Lohan has been close to Walters for years and agreed to the interview when it was announced she'd be playing Liz Taylor in the upcoming Liz & Dick TV movie biopic. The focus of the interview will be on the parallels between the lives of Lohan and Taylor, including topics such as dealing with childhood stardom, life in the public eye and addiction.

Actor Alfonso Ribeiro, best known for playing Will Smith's uptight cousin Carlton Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air - has married for the second time. "Last night I got married to the most incredible woman in the world," he tweeted after marrying writer Angela Unkrich at a ceremony in California. Family friend Joey Fatone of boy band *NSync was reportedly among the 175 guests. Ribeiro has a 9-year-old daughter with first wife Robin Stapler.

The smuggler
Eldarir had arrived at JFK in January 2020 with three suitcases, containing goods he valued at $300, when he was directed to a search area.
Officers found 41 gold artefacts among the bags, including amulets from a funerary set which prepared the deceased for the afterlife.
Also found was a cartouche of a Ptolemaic king on a relief that was originally part of a royal building or temple.
The largest single group of items found in Eldarir’s cases were 400 shabtis, or figurines.
Khouli conviction
Khouli smuggled items into the US by making false declarations to customs about the country of origin and value of the items.
According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, he provided “false provenances which stated that [two] Egyptian antiquities were part of a collection assembled by Khouli's father in Israel in the 1960s” when in fact “Khouli acquired the Egyptian antiquities from other dealers”.
He was sentenced to one year of probation, six months of home confinement and 200 hours of community service in 2012 after admitting buying and smuggling Egyptian antiquities, including coffins, funerary boats and limestone figures.
