Following the UAE debut of Kim Kardashian West’s perfume, the Calabasas-based star hosted a dinner for paying guests at the Japanese restaurant Toko in Dubai’s downtown area. Almost 340 people paid Dh500 to dine with the star, although not everyone caught a glimpse of Kardashian, who sat with her back to many of the tables and left at 10.30pm. Toko’s executive chef Sebastian Francis reveals more about the VIP menu.
How did the gala-dinner menu differ from Toko's normal one?
The brief was to create a menu that showcased part of the normal menu and diners were able to select from 16 dishes.
Were there any specific food requests from Kim or her party?
No, we didn’t have anything. But Kim and her table of 10 were the only ones to have full range of the menu.
What would you have liked to serve her?
The carpaccio salad or Korean lamb if she likes spicy food; I’d like her to try those things. Maybe avocado rolls, too, they are very healthy and light. She’s a celebrity, after all, and looks after her figure.
What other famous faces have been to Toko recently?
Well, a couple of the sheikhs from the region, the Crown Prince of Dubai.
