The Arabic drama channel, run by the Dubai-based regional broadcaster OSN, unveiled a slew of premiers and series returns yesterday, one of which includes the OSN-produced Mousameh Karim.
The reality series, hosted by the presenter and actor George Kordahi, marks the second production undertaken by OSN.
Premiering tomorrow on OSN Yahala, the programme has Kordahi reaching out to estranged family members and friends in the aim of reuniting them.
Speaking at the conference in Atlantis The Palm, Kordahi said he expects viewers will be reaching for the tissues.
“It’s a great show that provides a social and moral message,” he said. “Mousameh Karim is based on the pillars of forgiveness and love and I am pleased that OSN entrusted me to present what will be a game-changing series.”
Also on the cards is the anticipated fourth season of the Ottoman-era drama Hareem Al Sultan, which airs on April 21.
OSN executive vice president for programming and creative services, Khulud Abu Homos, also gave us a peak into the broadcaster’s Ramadan schedule, normally a period where channels unveil their blockbuster offerings.
“Our Ramadan showcase is extremely special with a focus on content that epitomises the essence of the month,” she said. “At the same time it showcases new concepts that appeal to women.”
Premiering during the Holy Month, presently scheduled around June 28, is Al Khatiaah.
The action drama starring the Egyptian Sherif Salama follows the plight of the recently divorced Yaseen and the mishaps that occur after he reunites with an old friend.
Also on the way is Seirat Al Hob, a romantic drama starring the Lebanese actress and singer Cirine Abdelnour.
Gulf productions will also feature during Ramadan with the drama series Intiqam Aziz promising to tackle “sensitive issues.”
The Moroccan actress Maisa Moghrabi will also lead the drama Kabel Lelkaser, a “story about love, heartbreak and tragedy.”

Although social media can be harmful to our mental health, paradoxically, one of the antidotes comes with the many social-media accounts devoted to normalising mental-health struggles. With Hope UAE is one of them.
The group, which has about 3,600 followers, was started three years ago by five Emirati women to address the stigma surrounding the subject. Via Instagram, the group recently began featuring personal accounts by Emiratis. The posts are written under the hashtag #mymindmatters, along with a black-and-white photo of the subject holding the group’s signature red balloon.
“Depression is ugly,” says one of the users, Amani. “It paints everything around me and everything in me.”
Saaed, meanwhile, faces the daunting task of caring for four family members with psychological disorders. “I’ve had no support and no resources here to help me,” he says. “It has been, and still is, a one-man battle against the demons of fractured minds.”
In addition to With Hope UAE’s frank social-media presence, the group holds talks and workshops in Dubai. “Change takes time,” Reem Al Ali, vice chairman and a founding member of With Hope UAE, told The National earlier this year. “It won’t happen overnight, and it will take persistent and passionate people to bring about this change.”
