Sonam Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana are scheduled to headline a new romantic comedy about two lovers whose relationship is tested during a time of financial crisis. Produced by Yash Raj Films, the yet-to-be-titled movie is directed by Nupur Asthana, who helmed the 2011 romcom Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge. The film also stars the veteran actor Rishi Kapoor. No takers for Khanna's last film
Rajesh Khanna's last film Riyasat was scheduled to open in cinemas last Friday, a day before what would have been the late actor's 70th birthday. But the director Ashok Tyagi says it has been postponed because they could not find distributors. "Every distributor is looking at it as a business. He was a superstar and nobody is bothered about his last film," said Tyagi. "I'm still very optimistic. I'm sure the film will find its own way." Come Dine with Me coming to India
Britain's popular reality cooking show Come Dine with Me will soon be broadcast on India's Life OK network. The celebrities Sakshi Tanwar, Ram Kapoor, Aman Verma, Samir Kochhar, Manoj Tiwari and Shibani Dandekar are reportedly being considered to host. The only confirmed contestant at the moment is the actress Nauheed Cyrusi, who said she is preparing to shoot the show's first episode. Agnihotri backs out of Hate Story sequel
The filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, who directed the recent thriller Hate Story, says he will no longer make a sequel to the movie. "I was planning to make Hate Story 2, but I've stepped out of that project," said the director. "I don't want to repeat the genre. How much more can you show? Now I want to try something different." Agnihotri is currently filming his next project, a drama titled Freedom. Shooting will end next month. - IANS

What the law says
Micro-retirement is not a recognised concept or employment status under Federal Decree Law No. 33 of 2021 on the Regulation of Labour Relations (as amended) (UAE Labour Law). As such, it reflects a voluntary work-life balance practice, rather than a recognised legal employment category, according to Dilini Loku, senior associate for law firm Gateley Middle East.
“Some companies may offer formal sabbatical policies or career break programmes; however, beyond such arrangements, there is no automatic right or statutory entitlement to extended breaks,” she explains.
“Any leave taken beyond statutory entitlements, such as annual leave, is typically regarded as unpaid leave in accordance with Article 33 of the UAE Labour Law. While employees may legally take unpaid leave, such requests are subject to the employer’s discretion and require approval.”
If an employee resigns to pursue micro-retirement, the employment contract is terminated, and the employer is under no legal obligation to rehire the employee in the future unless specific contractual agreements are in place (such as return-to-work arrangements), which are generally uncommon, Ms Loku adds.
