Justin Timberlake will release a follow-up to The 20/20 Experience later in the year. Named The 20/20 Experience 2 of 2, it will hit stores on September 30. The first single from the album, Take Back the Night, has been previewed on YouTube and Timberlake's website. Timberlake said there would be 11 new tracks on the album, as well as a surprise. "I originally recorded a massive amount of material and decided on the 20 tracks that I wanted on the album over a year ago," he said. "But, when I was mixing and going through all of the songs there were so many that I loved - I couldn't resist." - The National staff
Bollywood actor Pran cremated in Mumbai
The veteran Indian actor Pran, who starred in more than 400 movies, was cremated on Saturday in Mumbai following his death at the age of 93. Pran Sikand, dubbed the "godfather of Indian villains" and best known by his first name, was one of Bollywood's most beloved actors for nearly six decades. Pran, who died Friday after a bout of ill health, ruled the industry with his baritone voice and his ability to bring charm to his villainy. Family, fans, friends and celebrities attended his funeral in Mumbai. "Truly the end of a magnificent and glorious era. He was a gentleman superstar," tweeted the director Karan Johar. - AFP
Sam Mendes returning to direct Bond
Sam Mendes is coming back to direct another James Bond film with Daniel Craig following the successful Skyfall. The British director had said earlier that Skyfall would be his lone entry in the 007 canon. Mendes recently debuted a stage adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in London. He's also mounting King Lear for the National Theatre. Mendes said in a statement "that by giving me the time I need to honour all my theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct Bond 24". - AP
Philippine film nominated for an Emmy
Give Up Tomorrow, a documentary about a Filipino teenager convicted in a 1997 massacre case, has been nominated for an Emmy Award. The film, produced by Marty Syjuco and directed by Michael Collins, is nominated in the News and Documentary competition. The documentary argues that Paco Larranaga (pictured) has been falsely accused of the murder of two sisters in 1997. He has been serving a life sentence for 16 years. - The National staff
Idris Elba to portray Nelson Mandela
The British actor Idris Elba will play Nelson Mandela in the first biopic about the South African anti-apartheid leader's life. Elba, who found fame by playing the Baltimore drug lord Stringer Bell in the HBO series The Wire, will headline the movie Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. "It's such a massive opportunity to be part of a true legend's life, and, more importantly, the film re-educates people on this legend," said Elba. "This is the first real biopic I've done, and there's no real difference in the process, but it's Mr Mandela so that's huge. Everyone knows who he is and what he sounds like, and I look nothing like him." - Reuters
