After the success of last year's hilarious performance in a packed theatre in Dubai, the English actor and funnyman John Cleese is back at Madinat Jumeirah tomorrow.
The 74-year-old comedian climbed the ladder of fame after his regular acts at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in the 1960s and went on to become a household name as a member of the BBC's Monty Python's Flying Circus comedy sketch show and the British sitcom Fawlty Towers.
He will perform his lively rehearsed routine based on his life from November 5 to 9. At the end of each show, audiences will have a chance to talk to the actor, who has been in the spotlight in the past few years for his divorce and financial lows.
Cleese has not shied away from admitting his struggle with a US$22-million (almost Dh81m) divorce settlement from his third wife on his tours. His shows are a quirky mix of childhood stories, anecdotes from his profession and a healthy dose of black humour, accompanied by a presentation of popular clips from Monty Python and Fawlty Towers.
The actor has also been a part of the James Bond, Harry Potter and Shrek movies and played The Guv, a boarding-school teacher in the critically acclaimed film Spud in 2010.
His recent Canada tour, Last Time to See Me Before I Die, was well received.
• An Evening with John Cleese is from tomorrow until Saturday at the Madinat Theatre at 8pm. More information can be found on www.madinattheatre.com
