Jagger pays tribute to Scott
Mick Jagger paid tribute to his late companion, the designer L'Wren Scott, on Tuesday, calling her his "lover and best friend" and saying he was struggling to understand why she might have taken her own life. Jagger posted the message on Facebook as The Rolling Stones cancelled their seven-date tour of Australia and New Zealand after Scott's death. Scott was found dead on Monday in her Manhattan apartment, an apparent suicide. Jagger wrote: "I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way. We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves … I will never forget her." – AP
NY Indian Film Fest to spotlight Chadha
The 14th New York Indian Film Festival will pay tribute to the filmmaker Gurinder Chadha, celebrating the 20th anniversary of her acclaimed film Bhaji on the Beach. Chadha also directed Bend it Like Beckham (2002) and Bride and Prejudice (2004). The festivities, held from May 5 to 10, will also include a retrospective of the filmmaker's documentaries, according to the Indo-American Arts Council. The festival's complete programme will be announced in early April. – IANS
New Star Wars set 30 years after Jedi
The highly anticipated next instalment of the Star Wars franchise will be set 30 years after Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, The Walt Disney Company's chief executive, Bob Iger, said on Tuesday at the company's annual shareholders meeting. Iger did not reveal any casting news, other than to confirm the return of the robot character R2D2. The official Star Wars website posted news on Monday that the films would feature "a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces" and that filming would begin in May at London's Pinewood studios. Trade magazines have reported that rising stars, including Lupita Nyong'o and Adam Driver were being considered.– Reuters
First Peanuts movie in the works
Good ol' Charlie Brown and Snoopy are going 3-D. 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios say Peanuts will hit cinemas in November 2015. It's the first full-length computer-animated film based on the Charles Schulz comic strip that ran from 1950 to 2000. Charlie Brown and Snoopy have updated looks in the trailer that was unveiled on Tuesday. The trailer doesn't reveal whether the rest of the Peanuts crew will also be in the film. – AP

Real estate tokenisation project
Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.
The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.
Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
The rules on fostering in the UAE
A foster couple or family must:
- be Muslim, Emirati and be residing in the UAE
- not be younger than 25 years-of-age
- not have been convicted of offences or crimes involving moral turpitude
- be free of infectious diseases or psychological and mental disorders
- have the ability to support its members and the foster child financially
- undertake to treat and raise the child in a proper manner and take care of his/her health and well-being
- A single, divorced or widowed Muslim Emirati female, residing in the UAE may apply to foster a child if she is at least 30-years-old and able to support the child financially
