With summer approaching, your wardrobe is probably crying out for a much-needed clear out. Where possible, upcycle unwanted goods. If you would rather not donate all your old T-shirts to a worthy cause, you can upcycle them into nifty bags. The best part is that there’s no sewing required. All you will need is scissors and some chalk to mark where to cut.
Draw a semi-circle, from the top of one side of the neckline all the way to the other side, and cut. Make sure to cut through the front and back layers of your T-shirt. Draw another, wide semi-circle around each arm hole, and cut along each line. These will eventually act as your bag handles. Turn the shirt inside out. Cut one-inch strips from the bottom of the shirt up. Tie each set of strips – back and front – together. Then tie the conjoined strips to strips next to them. Flip the fabric inside out for a second time – so that the ties can’t be seen – and you’re ready to go.
You can then fill your bag with anything, including your favourite book, lunch, wallet or glasses case.
