Herbie Hancock’s memoirs will be released late this year, according to the jazz legend.
Speaking before his sold out Abu Dhabi performance in Emirates Palace on Friday, Hancock explained the book will focus on his life beyond the famed tunes.
“A lot of people don’t know about my life as a human being,” he says.
“What the memoir is about is the life lessons and the other things I have learnt, the things that have been a positive inspiration and encouragement for me. Hopefully through this book people can learn not just about me but about themselves.”
Hancock also spoke about his friendship with the soul legend Steve Wonder.
It’s a relationship that has them sharing their love for the latest gadgets and wry jokes.
“Whenever I would walk into the room and see Stevie speaking to someone, I would go behind his back and say ‘hey, why are you talking to some who pretends to be a piano player,” Hancock said.
“Stevie would just immedieatly know that’s me.”
