Comic book fans, manga maniacs and movie buffs will be thrilled to hear Dubai now hosts what claims to be “largest comics and collectables superstore” in the world.
The geek-tastic Comicave is now open at Dubai Outlet Mall, selling high-end collectables, novelty items and stocking more than 5,000 comic and manga titles.
Expect to see life-size sculptures and statues of sci-fi figures and comic book heroes lining the walls, and famous movie memorabilia from iconic Hollywood franchises such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Terminator, Alien and much of the Marvel universe
Managers claim it the store is the first of its kind in the Middle East, and quote the 17,000 sq ft floor space as the biggest in the world.
The site also offers The Vault, a place for gamers to gather and compete together online, while managers are planning to develop as series of cosplay events, role playing games where participants dress up in character.
“Our idea extends beyond retail. We want to open up a world that wasn’t available to enthusiasts before in the region,” said store manager Yasmin Al Najjar.
There are also plans for formal gaining tournaments and model kit building competitions, as well as film screenings, workshops and lectures.
Mohammed Khammas, CEO of Al Ahli Holding Group which is behind the shop, added: “We know there is a massive audience of fans and followers out there and reach out to them with a superstore that will stock high-end collectables, hard to find memorabilia, and everything to do with entertainment.”

Real estate tokenisation project
Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.
The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.
Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
